Locating .minecraft[]


Below is a table showing the default listing for .minecraft.


Locating the .minecraft folder could be important for putting in a useful resource pack or to locate any made screenshots.


The Windows location in the table above is simply the default case. Launchers can set the .minecraft at any path.


If you're a Windows user and are unfamiliar with how to find your appdata folder, observe these steps:


1. Click on Start → Run. If you do not see "Run", press ⊞ Windows + R.
2.  Minecraft  %APPDATA%\.minecraft and click "Ok".


If you are a Mac user, you'll be able to open the folder via Spotlight:


1. Open Finder and press ⇧ Shift + ⌘ Command + G or open the Spotlight popup through the magnifying glass icon on the best of the Menu Bar.
2. Sort ~/Library/Utility Assist/minecraft and hit ↵ Enter.


On Linux or macOS, the ~ in the trail refers to the home directory. Folders starting with a . are hidden by default. In most file managers, hitting Ctrl + H toggles their hidden status. In macOS particularly, since model 10.12 (Sierra), the shortcut ⌘ Command + ⇧ Shift + .
